Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what Options Academy collects when you use our website and iOS app, how we use it, and how we protect it.
1. Information we collect
- What you give us: your email when you sign up, and your interface language (saved on your account so our emails come in the same language).
- If you sign in with Google or Apple: the email address they give us, and with Google also the name and profile picture on your Google account. These are saved on your account.
- What builds up as you use the service: training progress and game saves (synced to your account), saved positions and valuations, your watchlist, purchase records, email preferences, and a record of which emails we've sent you.
- What's collected automatically: usage data the website collects through Google Analytics, and anonymous usage events sent by the iOS app, described in section 2.
2. Usage statistics and cookies (Google Analytics on the website, anonymous usage events in the iOS app)
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site and the game are used: which pages are viewed, which features are used, and rough device and location information. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this.
- When you're signed in, we give Google Analytics your account's internal ID (not your email), so your visits from different devices count as one person.
- We don't show ads on this site.
- If you'd rather not be counted, install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser.
- The site also keeps your interface language, this device's game save and your sign-in session in your browser's local storage. Only this site uses them.
- The iOS app sends anonymous usage events: an install ID (generated at random the first time the app is opened; not linked to your account, and not cleared when you delete your account), the event (opening the app, entering a level, seeing the paywall, starting a purchase, completing a purchase, restoring a purchase, and signing in), the level, your interface language and the app version. We use them to measure how many people go from trying the game to buying it, and keep them for 180 days.
3. How we use it
- To run the service: signing you in, syncing your progress across devices, and unlocking what you bought.
- To email you: sign-up and sign-in emails, purchase confirmations, and the occasional email about the Training Ground. Every Training Ground email has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn them off in My account.
- To improve the product and keep it secure, for example tracking down errors and preventing abuse.
4. Third-party services
These service providers handle some of the data for us. They collect and use information under their own privacy policies:
- Google Cloud (Cloud Run): the servers for the website and the Training Ground; every page you open is served from there. Our daily email job also runs there. It reads recipients' email addresses, interface language, sign-up date, training progress, purchase status and email preferences to pick who gets Training Ground emails.
- Supabase: accounts, our database, and generating sign-up and sign-in emails.
- Google Sign-In: when you choose Sign in with Google, Google confirms who you are and then gives us the email, name and profile picture described in section 1.
- Stripe: payments on the website. Stripe handles your card details; we never see your full card number.
- Apple: in-app purchases in the iOS app; when you sign in with Apple, Apple confirms who you are.
- Bunny.net: course video playback.
- YouTube: a backup player for the free preview episodes (privacy-enhanced mode), used only when our video service can't be reached.
- Resend: sending sign-up and sign-in emails, purchase confirmations, and Training Ground emails.
- Google Analytics: usage analytics, described in section 2.
- Google Fonts: the fonts on the website's pages. When you open those pages, your browser downloads the fonts from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address.
5. AI assistant interface (MCP)
We run an MCP (Model Context Protocol) service that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT use two of our educational tools: a DCF or P/E valuation built from SEC filings, and an options strategy calculator for cost, profit and loss, and Greeks. No sign-up or sign-in is needed.
The server address is https://mcp.theoptionsacademy.com/mcp. Add it as a custom connector in any AI assistant that supports remote MCP servers; no authentication is needed. Menu names change between versions, but the steps are roughly:
Claude: open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, enter a name and the address above, and click Add. Then turn the connector on from the + menu in the chat box.
ChatGPT: first turn on developer mode under Settings → Apps → Advanced settings. Then click Create on the same page, enter a name and the address above, set authentication to none, confirm that you trust it, and click Create. In a new chat, turn on developer mode from the + menu and select the app.
- For each call we record only: which tool was used, the stock ticker, the time, the name of the AI assistant software (for example claude-ai), and whether the call succeeded. We don't record your conversation with the assistant or any other arguments passed to the tool (prices, option legs and so on). These records are kept in Google Cloud's logs and deleted automatically after 30 days.
- To prevent abuse, the service limits how often each IP address can call it; the IP address is used briefly in the server's memory and isn't written into the record above. As with the website, Google Cloud (Cloud Run) logs requests in its own way, including IP addresses.
- Links back to this site in tool results carry utm parameters (source: the assistant software's name; medium: mcp; content: the tool name) so we can count visits that come from AI assistants. The links contain nothing that identifies you. Visits after you open a link are counted as described in section 2.
- Tool results are based only on public SEC filings and numbers you (or the assistant) provide; they contain no market data. Results are for educational purposes only and are not investment advice.
6. Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself at any time: sign in, open My account (/account) and choose Delete account, or delete it in the iOS app. This permanently deletes your account and the personal data tied to it — training progress, saved positions and valuations, your watchlist and email preferences — and ends access to anything you purchased. It can't be undone.
Your account and other personal data are deleted. Payment and audit records are kept for accounting, refunds and legal obligations; they contain only internal IDs and the payment provider's customer ID — not your email — and can no longer be used to sign in. If you can't sign in, email hello@theoptionsacademy.com from your login address and we'll delete the account for you.
